Module 1: SKETCH

  • Introduction to NX & its interface.
  • Navigation into applications (template selection) and display controls.
  • CSYS and plane selection for sketch
  • Access Sketch and sketch in task environment
  • Sketch Curve: Profile, line, arc, circle, fillet, chamfer, rectangle, polygon, studio spline, ellipse, conic, and point.
  • Curve edit: quick trim, quick extend, make corner.
  • Sketch Constraints: geometric/dimensional, Display sketch constraints, auto constraint, auto dimension, show/remove constraints, animate dimension, convert to reference, alternate solution, inferred constraint & dimensions, create inferred constraints, continuous auto dimensioning.
  • Reattach sketch
  • Expressions and formulas in sketch

Module 2: PART DESIGN/SOLID MODELING

  • Introduction to feature based solid modeling
  • Interface customization and navigation.
  • Parent child relationship between features (dependencies).
  • Use of part navigator and model history
  • Design features: Extrude, revolve, hole, rib, thread.
  • Sweep: Sweep along guide, swept, tube
  • Mesh surface: Ruled, through curves
  • Combine: Unite, subtract , intersect, trim body
  • Datum/Point: Datum plane, datum axis, datum CSYS, point
  • Associative Copy: Pattern feature, pattern geometry, mirror feature, mirror geometry.
  • Detail Features: Edge blend, face blend, chamfer, draft
  • Offset/scale: Shell, thicken, scale body
  • Feature creation order, reordering the tree structure, dynamic sectioning.

  • Extract geometry, offset surface, fillets, flange surface
  • Trim: trimmed sheet, trim & extend, un trim, delete edge
  • Fill: through curve mesh, N sided surface, bounded plane
  • Join: Sew, un sew
  • Solid creation from surface: thicken & closed solid (sew)

Module 4: ASSEMBLY DESIGN

  • Introduction to assembly concepts (top down, bottom up, product structure) & NX assembly interface.
  • Components: add component, create new parent, replace component, make unique, pattern component, mirror assembly, suppress/ unsupress
  • Component position: Move component, assly constraints, show/hide constraints, show degrees of freedom
  • Validation: compute interference

  • Resize: Resize bend radius, bend angle, neutral factor
  • Form: Unbend, rebend
